I Am Not Sure How to Act!

I was asked a question at the ball park last night from a friend. "How is Midland Heights treating you?" Before I even gave it a thought, I said, "like a king!" The stands were pretty full, and that statement got a lot of looks coming my way. I am well aware that it is the "honeymoon" stage, but to tell you the truth, I really don't know how to act. This is so different from the last time I pastored. I have 4 deacons that "deac". They take care of business. I have a ladies group that makes sure that things look amazing, run smoothly and the little things are taken care of. Case in point, I got word from a member that his grandmother had passed away from a long illness. It was expected and he was relieved and thankful that she was now with the Lord. I made one phone call to the head of the ladies group (Cena you rock!), asking her to handle any flowers/donations or pass it along to whoever handles that for the church. She shot me a text back, not only letting me know who handles that but letting me know she would pass it along to her. I then got a text letting me know it was done. My wife never had to lift a finger. I did a poor job of protecting her in the past from getting "dumped" on, and doing what everybody else didn't want to do. I have vowed to do better. I enjoy knowing that someone is going to get there early to open the doors. I enjoy not having to worry if the church will be clean. I enjoy having a music minister (and his wife) that handles the music and "details". I get emails updating me on what is happening this week at the church. Sometimes, I find myself wondering around the church, not knowing what to do. The greeters are in place. The Sunday school teachers are ready. The choir is prepared. The bulletins are printed and folded and neatly placed. I have a visitation team that tells me, "you can come if you want to." I get to do what I am called to do. Study, pray, and preach.

I hope this honeymoon never ends.
