Softball is Here!

Last night was the start of the regular season for softball. I will have to admit I was concerned about the team I play for. Fair Haven is notorious for being a "fun" team to play for, but as far as being competitive, not so much. If last night was any indication of how this season will play out, we are not only having fun playing, but we are very competitive. We won our first game last night in 4 innings. It was a blow out. Everybody on our team was hitting the ball and playing the field exceptionally well. Then we had about an hour before we played the second game and we won in dramatic fashion. We scored a run in the bottom of the 7th to win the game.
We have a young guy on our team named Seth. I am a teacher at heart, so I have taken Seth under my wing. He has never played softball, but he is a sponge wanting to learn. I always take time to encourage him and show him things during the game that he might have not picked up on. I think this is the reason I am enjoying playing so much this year. Last night, Seth had a couple of real key hits that extended innings. I was proud of him and told him as much. We also picked up Chris. Chris goes to Midland Heights with me. I really didn't know what to expect when I asked Chris to play with us. He plays a mean 1st base and had some clutch hitting as well. I can't help but love this team.
