I Think God has a Sense of Humor

When I talk to my dad about my favorite team, the Music City CHAMPION, Vanderbilt Commodores, I always use the phrase, "They are playing with my emotions". I use that phrase because they start the season on a roll, beating teams they are not suppose to beat, but always lose to at least one team they should beat.
Sometimes, I think God is playing with my emotions. I don't mean that in a derogatory way. I think God has a great sense of humor, especially when it comes to me.

It is not a secret I have a great desire to be a full time minister. I also know the verse above never sets a time table for when He will give you the desires of your heart. It took David 12 years from the time he was anointed King until he actually took the throne. I use to take comfort in that story until I realized I have been a minster for over 14 years now. I have seen pastoral jobs come open and my name be kicked around only to never get a call. I have been asked for my resume, which now has a Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies attached to it, but never heard back from the committees.

Honestly, I was to the point of some deep soul searching. Deeper than I can ever remember going. I am at the point of searching other options, outside of the ministry. I sent my college transcipts to another University in pursuit of a B.S. in Organizational Safety and Health. I am not getting any younger. I have a third child on the way. If I am going to make a career move, it needs to be now. Did I mention I am not getting any younger? Here comes the sense of humor part.

I got a call Sunday night from a church looking for a pastor. I had a another gentleman walk up to me last night at Lynna's Jr. High basketball game and ask me to come fill in at his church in February. On the way home from the game, all I could do was laugh. I wonder if God is playing with my emotions? Time will tell. God is faithful.
